Brisbane’s Western Suburbs
Landscaping & Construction in Brisbane’s Western Suburbs — Retaining, Paving and Full Property Builds
Western suburbs blocks are defined by their ground — steep fallaways, sandy creek-side soil and mature root systems. Stonebark Group resolves the structure first, then builds the landscape that sits on top of it.
Structure first: retaining, drainage and levels
From Bardon to Kenmore, most western blocks fall away toward a creek or the river. Before a single paver is laid we resolve the ground: engineered retaining in concrete sleeper, block or natural sandstone, agricultural drainage tied into legal discharge points, and re-cut levels that give you flat, usable ground. Where walls exceed one metre we work with a structural engineer and take care of the certification.
At Bardon we re-cut a steep western-facing block into three usable terraces held by sandstone retaining, with a honed bluestone terrace linking the house to a new pool surround. That is the pattern across the west — the levels are the project, and everything else depends on them.
Paving, stonework and outdoor living
We lay travertine, bluestone, porcelain, natural sandstone and exposed aggregate to a standard you can inspect at close range — consistent joints, correct falls, clean edges — and build stairs, pool surrounds, driveways, fire terraces and dry-stack stone walls.
Material choice matters more out west. A west-facing terrace takes the full force of the afternoon sun, and a dark porcelain that looks superb in a shaded courtyard becomes unwalkable there. We tell you that before you buy it.
Design and build, one accountable team
Design can be delivered on its own or rolled into a Stonebark Group design-and-build so the people who drew it are the people who deliver it. Larger projects run as complete builds — demolition, excavation, retaining, drainage, services, structures, irrigation, planting, turf and lighting — with one site supervisor, one schedule and weekly progress updates.
A single-zone refresh can be as little as one week depending on scope, while a full-property build typically runs six to twelve weeks, weather permitting. The property is left broom-clean at the end of every day.
